How often does FBS Abogados use or interact with the Blockchain market?
You could say that every day since we have a department dedicated one hundred percent to it. We have clients who ask us for advice in the world of cryptocurrencies. Some inquiries are of a tax type, others are more of a type of licenses, or criteria of the CNMV (in Spain). The point is that we already have many clients in this world, and therefore, we know the crypto world: wallet, metamask, DeFi, liquidity mining, liquidity pools, uniswap, ethereum, binance, bitcoin. For a lawyer outside this world, all those words are like speaking another language. To be a crypto lawyer, more than law, you have to know crypto, also law of course.
What do you expect from the Blockchain Arbitration Society?
This technology requires a new right. This new right is in part original and private. The challenge is to create a new crypto jurisdiction that respects the values of the new law. The new practice of law will change the crypto world towards an association without barriers. That is why we are very excited that BAS will grow around the world. The crypto community needs legality, and it will come from the community itself, and not from the States. Regulation or the legal order will be fundamental in this new world.
The BAS has the first specialized Arbitration Court in the world. It is a great project and it can help the crypto community a lot, and the traditional world to live together.
What prospects does FBS Abogados have in the short and medium term?
For us it is essential to grow as a firm specialized in cryptocurrencies. But for this, and in accordance with crypto rules, we must generate community. That is why the Blockchain Arbitration Society was born in part, to generate a crypto community in a legal environment. The more people convert to crypto in a legal environment, the better.
What opportunities does Blockchain bring to companies and what advantages does BAS bring them?
Talking about Blockchain is not talking about a technology of the future. It is already present. Faced with the instability of conventional markets, companies have great opportunities to innovate and improve their processes with confidence, traceability, decentralized and automated. This whole new paradigm requires legal supervision such as that offered by the BAS that provides peace of mind to companies that they can enter to do crypto business in a legal environment.
